Throwing Bones was started by Kenny Capps in 2017. A runner of average ability who was battling Multiple Myeloma, Kenny was told not to run as he went through treatment. Determined to defy the odds, Kenny decided to “throw those bones and let them ride”. On April 1, 2018, he started running from Jockey’s Ridge on the eastern coast of North Carolina and finished 52 days and 1,100 miles later at Clingmans Dome. After his run, Kenny was determined to dedicate his life to inspiring individuals battling Multiple Myeloma and other blood cancers to #keepmovingforward despite their diagnoses.

Throwing Bones is now a registered 501(c)3 profit organization with a mission to inspire blood cancer patients to keep moving forward with active lifestyles during treatment and beyond.
